Putting smiles on children's faces one toy at a time.

Random Acts of Kindness

About Us

Ricks Toybox 172

We are a 501(c)(3) organization.

OUR MISSION:
To put smiles on as many little faces as we can, one toy at a time. To have a child be able to call a toy their very own no matter what their situation is in life. We serve our Community as well as the four corners of the World.

About Rick:
In April of 2011 it all started when I was hit with many health issues all at one time. Beginning with getting lost and forgetting things, and cognitive issues caused by hidden seizures. Then two different types of migraines: one headache I have 24/7, and another that would come about 3 days apart where I would black out and lose my memory for an average of about 1-3 hours (my record was 3 days). These could hit a few times a week and be very violent where I could hurt myself, such as pulled muscles and hernias. Then if that wasn’t enough it was a good time to get prostate cancer. So needless to say, depression hit pretty hard then and I got to the lowest point of my life.
Well, I needed to make a change and a reason to get up in the morning besides looking at being sick. I started making birdhouses against everyone’s advice, including my wife’s (because of the danger of using power tools when I was regularly passing out). It was time to re-brand myself after a period of time because I didn’t know anything about birds and what houses fit which bird, and the bird lovers were just getting too particular for me. So, I moved onto wooden toy cars and trucks because that was something I knew about. Since then, there has been no looking back and I’ve been impacting many lives one after another. Even making a change in my own life, slowly each day, each month, and after a few years getting control on some of my own health issues. No, I’m not cured, and now even Fibromyalgia has been added to my list which brings the pain level to tears many nights. But now I learn how to deal with my health issues and not make it the focus point of my life.
Now not only have I been impacting the lives of children but I touch many adults’ lives also.

The 2022 Ethics in Action Award
Nominee for 2023 WPS Volunteer Awards

On October 20,2022 at a yearly event held by the Foundations Health & Wholeness Organization at Lambeau Field. I was one of three recipients to receive "The 2022 Ethics in Action Award" that celebrates people who are creating healthier spaces in the community. The main focus of the award was on the two Ukraine projects and the overall history of Rick's Toybox, Inc.

I was very honored to receive this award. I couldn't have done it without the support of my wife, Rosemary, my team of Doctors, and many volunteers, especially the team of dedicated hard core volunteers that I rely on quite heavily currently, together with the donors and sponsors that are involved with my organization.
